Common Faults Of Hydraulic Presses

Jun 12, 2024

During the operation of the metal extrusion hydraulic press, bolts sometimes fall off and fall into the hydraulic cylinder, causing serious scratches on the plunger wall. After the problem occurs, the traditional method cannot be repaired on site at all. It can only be disassembled and shipped to the manufacturer for repair welding or scrapping and replacement. Since there is no spare parts to replace, the time for re-production of accessories or return to the factory for repair cannot be controlled. Long-term downtime causes serious economic losses to the company, and high processing or repair costs must be paid. In order to meet the requirements of continuous production of enterprises, it is necessary to find convenient, fast, simple and effective maintenance methods to solve the equipment problem, minimize the company's downtime and production time, and reduce maintenance and maintenance costs. The method of polymer composite materials can be used for on-site repair
Operation steps:
1. Use oxygen-acetylene flame to bake the scratched part (control the temperature and avoid surface annealing), bake out the oil that has been infiltrating the metal surface for many years, and bake until there is no spark.
2. Use an angle grinder to treat the scratched part with a grinding depth of more than 1 mm, and grind out grooves along the outer wall of the cylinder, preferably dovetail grooves. Deepen the holes at both ends of the scratch to change the stress conditions.
3. Use cotton wool dipped in acetone or anhydrous ethanol to clean the surface.
4. Apply the evenly blended repair material to the scratched surface; the first layer should be thin, even and cover the scratched surface completely to ensure the best adhesion between the material and the metal surface. Then apply the material to the entire repair area and press repeatedly to ensure that the material is filled and reaches the required thickness, making it slightly higher than the outer wall surface of the cylinder.
5. It takes 24 hours for the material to fully achieve various properties at 24°C. In order to save time, the temperature can be increased by a halogen tungsten lamp. For every 11°C increase in temperature, the curing time will be shortened by half. The optimal curing temperature is 70°C.
6. After the material is cured, use a fine grinding stone or scraper to repair and level the material that is higher than the outer wall surface of the cylinder, and the construction is completed.
